My first postcard received from postcrosser via personal exchange (direct swap). This north view of Seattle skyline and Elliot Bay came from Geoff. I wish I could visit this city one day.

The card from Li Tong, a 20 years old Chinese girl. It depicts the Yulong (Jade Dragon) Snow Mountain & the ancient city of Lijiang, China.

Wiki says:
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is a mountain massif (also identified as a small mountain range) near Lijiang, in Yunnan province of southwestern China. Its highest peak is named Shanzidou (5,596 m or 18,360 ft). The view of the massif from the gardens at the Black Dragon Pool (Heilong Tan) in Lijiang is noted as one of China's finest views. The far side of the mountain forms one side of Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia).
Shanzidou has been climbed only once, on May 8, 1987, by an American expedition. The summit team comprised Phil Peralta-Ramos and Eric Perlman. They climbed snow gullies and limestone headwalls, and encountered high avalanche danger and sparse opportunities for protection. They rated the maximum technical difficulty of the rock at YDS 5.7.
The Austro-American botanist and explorer Joseph Rock spent many years living in the vicinity of Jade Dragon Mountain, and wrote about the region and the Nakhi people who occupy it. An interest in Rock later drew the travel writer Bruce Chatwin to the mountain, which he wrote about in an article that appeared in the New York Times and later, retitled, in his essay collection What Am I Doing Here?. Chatwin's article inspired many subsequent travellers, including Michael Palin, to visit the region.
The Jade Water Village is at the foot of the mountain.

This card depicts 14 meters-tall Vilamoura Marina West Mole Lighthouse, which is located in Algrave, Portugal. The sender is Laurent - a postcard collector from Sydney (Australia). He has seven postcrossing accounts!

I received this vintage style postcard from Xenia (Moskow, Russia).

The stamps are amazing! The rightmost depicts Yaroslav the Wise - the Grand Prince of Novgorod and Kiev. During his lengthy reign Kievan Rus' reached the zenith of it's cultural flowering and military power.

Amazing card received from Ute. She lives in Duisburg (Ruhr district, Germany) with two cats.

This postcard is one of my favorites. It shows the world tallest golden statue of Lord Murugan (42.7 m) at Batu Caves Temple (Malaysia). I received it from 3-years old Malaysian girl Putri. Her daddy signed this card for me and it's so sweet..)

The Prison Museum in Hämeenlinna (Finland). Received from Elina. She is lives in a little village in Virrat (Finland) with her husband and two children and collect everything related to cows.

This Finnish stamp is very nice :)

Charlotte from Germany sent me this postcard with Tilda Swinton. This is the ad-card of the movie "The Limits Of Control" by Jim Jarmush. Jarmush is one of my favorite directors, as well as Tilda is one of favorite actresses. That's why this postcard was more than welcome. 

The card with Trakai castle came to me from 13-years old Lithuanian girl Diana. This castle was built in the 14th century and was one of the main centers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (built in 1870 on Hatteras Island, North Carolina) is the tallest lighthouse in America. I received this card from Molly. She lives with her husband, 2 children and 2 cats in the town of Keene (New Hampshire, USA).  

This postcard arrived from Sarah. She is from Wiltshire, England. As a fan of of "Red Hot Chili Peppers" she sent me this red_hot_chili_heart_card :) Like it so much!

Frida Kahlo's Self-Portrait Dedicated to Sigmund Firestone, 1940.
Postcard from Julie (Kyiv, Ukraine). The first Frida-card I ever received. Yey!

In early 1940, the American engineer Sigmund Firestone commissioned a self-portrait from both Frida and Diego. They were paid a total of $ 500. Frida delivered this self-portrait to Firestone in 1940 but Diego did not finish his self-portrait until the following year.
In this self-portrait, Frida is combining the preColumbian jewelry with the typical catholic covering of the head, pointing to the duality of her roots, as well as the duality of her country. In the inscription on the note in the upper right corner Frida dedicates the self-portrait to Firestone and his two daughters: Natalia and Alberta:
"Mexico, Coyoacan. For Mr. Sigmund Firestone and his daughters Alberta and Natalia I painted this self-portrait with affection, in February of 1940 - Frida Kahlo".
In a 1940 letter to Firestone, Frida assures him that Diego will start his self-portrait as soon as he finishes the murals he is working on. When his self-portrait is finished she tells Firestone that: "...and we will be together again on your wall, as a symbol of our remarriage. I am very happy and proud because you like my portrait, it is not beautiful, but I made it with a great pleasure for you".

An amazing postcard from Julie (Ontario, Canada). This photo was made by Bryon Harmon - a photographer of Canadian Rockies at the turn of the last century. Definitely one of my favorite cards! 

Cute round-cheeked Dolly Dingle really touched me! This vintage paper doll, created in the early 1900's by Grace Drayton, was very popular in US newspaper comics. I received this card from Polly (Illinois, USA).

The card received from Anna. She lives in Florida over 8 years but originally is from Crimea, Ukraine. Anna loves plants, birds and butterflies. I think that this postcard is a good reflection of her personality. I adore it!

Five beautiful stamps were on Anna's postcard. Mr. Poe is gorgeous!

With Postcrossing the world seems closer to me, but at the same time more unknown and, therefore, more interesting.
